Bach to Rock Timeline Instructions








GETTING STARTED
1. Go to www.mrseymoursmusic.blogspot.com you're already there!!! Why are we doing this? Click here if you want to be reminded of the purpose of this assignment (we already went over this in class).

2. Examine the Bach to Rock Timeline and read/watch the “Example: Johann Sebastian Bach”.

3. Click at the bottom of the timeline where it says “From Bach to Rock”.


CREATE AN ACCOUNT
4. Click the TOP RIGHT where it says “Join Dipidy”.

a. Create Fake Name
b. Create Username
c. Enter SCHOOL email address ****ENTER IN EXAMPLE LATER****
d. Create easy password you will remember


CHOOSE COMPOSERS WITH THE CLASS
5. Choose 5 composers/artists from the list provided. They must be from different time periods.
a. Click HERE to see the list of composers/artists. You will be assigned these people, and we MUST go in order.


CREATING POSTS TO THE TIMELINE
6. Click “Add and Event” to enter your composer.

a. Title – Enter Composer’s Full Name
b. Date – Write “Year to Year” Example: 1900 to 1950 (not 1900-1950!!!!!) You must write “to”.


HOW TO DO RESEARCH AND INPUT INFORMATION
7. Description – Please use http://www.sweetsearch.com or http://simple.wikipedia.org to research information. Enter your composer’s name and not these questions! I will show you a few tricks to find info quickly.

a. Where were they born?

b. Where did live and compose? Include any major travels.

c. In what historical time period did they compose? Look at the timeline and research too (especially if they overlap a time period).

d. What musical style are they most famous for? What instruments did they write for? Say a few words about what the research says about their music.

e. What are their most famous works? List 3 of them! Hint: Go to www.youtube.com and search the composer’s name. The top videos are usually the most famous works by the composer.

f. Enter your name at the bottom.

g. Check out my Bach Example!


ADDING MEDIA
8. Picture

a. Find a picture of your composer on https://www.google.com/imghp?hl=en&tab=wi
b. Click on it and then click “See full size image”
c. Copy the link at the top
d. Paste the link where it says “Paste an image URL here.”
e. Click “OK”

9. Video URL

a. Go back to www.youtube.com
b. Search your composer and find the most popular piece of music they composed (or your favorite!).
c. Copy the link at the top of the screen.
d. Paste the link in the Video URL box.

10. Click the Green SAVE button at the bottom right of the screen.


NOW DO IT FOR ALL YOUR COMPOSERS!
11. Repeat for all composers. BONUS composers for extra credit are available if assignments are completed early.
